Rule of Thirds in shots I took (Mustafa)

I have been recording scenes for our teen movie using the storyboard. While recording I have used a variety of different types of shots . These all range from long shots, medium shots, close ups and over the shoulder shots. I have also had low angle and high angle shots taken in certain scenes.

In most shots i tried to take shots which were on the rule of thirds on the strips as I wanted the shots to look excellent. I believe that obeying the rule of thirds is very important in the film industry as I have seen many shots in Holly Wood and other famous film industry companies using it in there films .

It need to lie in these strips for it to obey the rule of thirds rule...

My Filming Review Day 2

I feel today's filming was good because we managed to record scenes which we had no recorded before although during filming the kitchen scene we cam across some problems,as it was lunch time a lot of teachers were going in and out of the kitchen which delayed us a great deal.We realised this was down to our poor planning of the specific times which we were going to film the different scenes.A positive however was that we Re-filmed some scenes which were not as strong as we had hope in our initial film and scenes where costume was changed, this was a very productive part of our filming because we managed to get better shots in a shorter time frame the the first time.I also feel like today we all had great input and helped each other when we were doing things which would not have come out very well.

During our next Filming Day 3 we plan to complete our film opening so we can swiftly move on to the editing stage.

A slight change - character plot

Instead of Warren playing the "popular kid" in school he will play the poorer student who is forced to steal food from the canteen each morning. He disrupts the class in all of his lessons but puts up a 'front' in front of his peers to appear "normal."

Jessica will still play the vain, popular girl in school and she will bump into Warren during the opening scene but for some reason, she likes him...

Day Two Filming Re-filming and a new entrance -2

This was day 2 of filming our teen film opening we all turned up during lunch to record the opening of the fridge scene which will be a flashback a during the opening. We also decide it would be a good opportunity to re-film the bathroom scene because majority of the students in college would be at lunch.

We decided we wanted to get a close up of the character Warren when we opened the fridge, we thought this would be an effective shot in showing his struggles.Although it was hard to film because the fridge was not very big we found it hard to fit the camera in and get the right angle.

My Filming Review Day 1

I felt like today's filming went well we achieved a great amount of work in a short period of time.
Whilst we were filming, we also were coming up with new ideas for shots which we never thought of but would be better than what we had initially discussed.Everything was well organised and we knew our roles, our only issue really was the outside interference which was out of our control due to the time of the day.We decided we would choose another time when next recording to avoid this.

Re-filming - part 1

Today we re-filmed the bathroom scene as we were not entirely happy with the previous filming.

How I felt it went

I was happy with the groups efforts today for what we planned to complete was achieved. We focused on consistency with shots today and recorded a wide range of shots for this flashback scene. This included an over the shoulder shot and an extreme close up. I am content with the outcome and confident that we will produce something adequate for our completed opening sequence.

What to do next

I am to also re-do my entrance scene and assure that I am wearing the same clothing for consistency edit. On a personal note, I also need to blog my individual contribution to our opening scene to increase the amount of posts.

Filming- Day 1

Today was our first day of filming our teen movie. I believe that it went very well as nothing got in our way while filming and we as a group had no difficulties communicating with each other.  While taking the some of the scenes we took a variety of different shots that we didn't even plan before. This was great as we had more shots that we could pick from to use in our teen movie. I know that we used our time efficiently as we recorded quite a lot of scenes with a variety of shots which includes close-ups, long shots and medium shots.

This is an example of a long shot we took of Arber while entering the colleges entrance.

Day One Filming- Arrivals

Evidence for Filming -1
On day one of our filming we filmed the arrival of the character Warren and Jennifer.
We found it was difficult to get some of the shots recorded on this day because there was a lot
Traivon and Arber Setting up the Equipment
people walking around in the background and noise interference. This lead to us having to go back and rerecord which was very time consuming, although it was slightly helpful for us to look at our initial recordings and realise what we did wrong;this was a good chance to make any adjustments.

Using the Figrig to record over the shoulder shot

We found it tricky to record these over the shoulder shots due because Arber and Traivon struggled to keep the right pace.

Recording medium close up of Warren

When  recording this close up we found that we had stabilization issue after watching it back so we had to record this shot again using the tripod.

Bathroom recording Close ups

Recording Jennifer entrance into college

This was a very successful shoot, recording the close ups but when we watched the clips back.Although we just decided we didn't like the costume which Jennifer was wearing so we decided not not use the clips of Jennifer from this day of filming.
