 At  the beggining of the movie Donnie Darko camera is used at a low angle looking up and is taking long shots of students entering the school when the students are first arrive to the high-school. Long shots are being used to show costume, props and the setting of the school.

Medium shots were used in the school just after the arrival of the students. This shows us the main characters and the different types of characters such as the teachers, students, bullies and parents. During the medium shot the camera was at normal level so it looked like a student was walking around . Everytime it switched charaters it showed us the main characters in the movie.

A mirror was used to show us the reflection of the girl. This also shows us that she is one of the main characters. 

Close up shot was used to show us that the bad student was doing drugs (cocaine).
