Donnie Darko Opening Analysis
In this lesson we watched the opening of Donnie Darko, after watching it once we analysed the different elements of the opening, then we looked at the following elements Mise-en-scene/Location, Editing/Camera and Characters.
Locations and Mise-en-scene
Within the opening sequence there were a range of locations showen at the school at the school, outside in front of the school where you can see the students geting off the school bus.Then there is a match cut to inside the corridor which is busy with students at their lockers and talking to eachother which creates the world of school.The costume which is is school uniform but the students where it in particular ways which show their different personalities.Within the classroom the chairs,tables and students throwing around paper planes;these all help to show the setting of the school.
